The bill, the drawing and the proof, on one screen.
The seven stages of a tender sit across the top, in the order a QS works. Open one and its work is already there. Pick any number and see where it came from.
| Item | Description | Qty | Unit | Rate | Amount |

After the meeting, a first number on the phone.
For the business developer or the CEO, without waiting for the QS: the area, the type of job and the location go in, and a range comes out with what it is based on beside it. Never a single figure. A number the company's history cannot support is refused in words. Then it goes to the QS.

Click a quantity or a rate and see the drawing it was measured on, the rate-book row, the supplier's quote, or the person who typed it.
A scanned sheet waits for a person
Code measures the lines of CAD files and PDF drawings. On a scan, your estimator measures once the scale is set, and the number counts only when a named person confirms it.
Quotes ranked on the same terms
VAT is converted with its working shown. A supply-only quote stays out of "lowest" next to installed ones until a person adjusts it. A quote in another currency is refused.
From the tender pack to a quotation your people sign.
The same steps a senior QS follows, in the same order. Code does the arithmetic. AI only drafts wording and suggests which item type a line is, and it never writes a number.
- 1
Register the pack
Drop in the drawings, specifications and the client's bill. Writguard sorts each document by kind and shows only what is missing.
- 2
Measure
On CAD files and PDF drawings, code measures the lines you point at, and finds every copy of a symbol from one example for you to tick. On a scanned sheet, a person measures and a named person confirms.
- 3
Price
A rate is recommended only from a confirmed row of your rate book or a valid supplier quote. Otherwise the line says it needs a price. Build a rate up from labour, material, plant and subcontract, each on stated terms.
- 4
Ask suppliers
Requests for quotes are drafted in your company's layout. A named person approves, edits or declines each one, and the replies come back as quotes, levelled on the same terms.
- 5
Check and issue
Checks run over the whole bill. The quotation is issued only when every finding is fixed or accepted with a reason, and a named person approves it.
- 6
Revise
When a new revision replaces a sheet, every quantity measured on the old one is flagged through to the money, and the quotation waits until someone deals with each one.
Behind every tender, your company's own record.
Your rate book, your past bills, your suppliers' quotes and the corrections your estimators make, kept as one record your company owns.
- When an estimator changes a number, Writguard asks why. The answer can become a written rule for one job, one type of project or the whole company.
- Only a named person can approve a rule. An approved rule suggests the same change on later bills, citing itself, and changes nothing until someone accepts it.
- Every rule keeps its source and its version, and can be withdrawn.
What we have measured, and what we have not.
We tried to automate estimating first, on the past tenders of a design and fit-out company, scored blind. It did not work. That is why Writguard keeps a person on every decision and code on every number.
Measured, blind
Real bill lines matched when the bill was built automatically from the design packs of five sealed past projects.
Lines priced within 25% when rates came from past bills by item type alone, on 155 lines from 2023. About the same as a plain median per unit, at 12.3%.
Document types sorted correctly when a fresh tender pack was registered.
Numbers on the bill without a source, across every screen of the app, walked on a made-up company.
